HYDERABAD: A major portion of the 11-floor Haj House will be leased out for opening a Muslim guest house and multi-cuisine restaurant. This is to generate revenue for the maintenance of the complex. The Haj House received tenders from six companies of which Jameel & Co based in Warangal reportedly won the bidding. The hotel will have 65 suites, nine special halls, a multi-cuisine restaurant, multi-purpose conference hall and other facilities.First five floors have already been occupied by minorities welfare department offices including the Wakf Board, Haj Committee, Urdu Academy and Minorities Finance Corporation.
The rest of the floors are used as guest house for pilgrims during haj season for a period of two months.
The contention of the minorities welfare department is that as a major portion of the building remains vacant without any activity for 10 months every year, it could be made use of to generate revenue. But during the haj season, the pilgrims will continue to be allowed to use the entire premises. The guest house will also be computerised. The private company is investing Rs 2 crore. The lease period is three years and the Haj House will be paid Rs 1.5 lakh per month for the first year, Rs 1.6 lakh per month for second year and Rs 1.8 lakh per month for the third year. The selected company will also pay Rs 22 lakh as refundable deposit and Rs 5.52 lakh as non-refundable one time payment. The wakf board will provide a separate lift for the hotel in the building. A huge conference hall will be set up on the 11th floor of the Hah House as well. This could be be used for functions, sources said.
